Abstract

Internationalization has become essential in today's modern world, which is filled with numerous ambiguities. Therefore, this study aims to provide a model for cooperative companies to enter foreign markets using a mixed research method with an exploratory (qualitative-quantitative) approach. Initially, based on a semi-structured questionnaire, 19 interviews were conducted with experts and professionals to model the internationalization of cooperative businesses based on a qualitative research strategy using MAXQDA coding software. In the second stage, by collecting information through a questionnaire from 384 managers and experts in cooperative companies, relationships between theoretical elements were tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Smart PLS3 software. The study results consist of two parts. In the first part, a set of influential factors on the internationalization of cooperative businesses was identified in the form of a paradigm model, and in the second part, the importance of these factors was determined. The research findings indicate that the most influential factors in the internationalization of cooperative businesses are causal conditions, contextual conditions, intervening conditions, strategies, and outcomes, with the impact of customer-oriented strategy on outcomes having the strongest path coefficient among other relationships. Planning to improve and organize this component according to its importance can lead to improved performance in cooperatives.
